The
Alameda Capital Logo
The Alameda Capital logo represents several concepts
that are core to our investment strategy:
Convergent Technology Investment Focus
Each “ring” of the logo reflects the
intersection of three circles in a Venn diagram. This intersection
symbolizes our investment focus: the convergence of advanced materials,
information technology and/or life sciences. In addition, there
are three concentric rings, symbolizing the movement of technology
from macro- to micro- to nanoscale. We believe that micro and nanoscale
technologies have the potential to create disruptive innovation.
This innovation is portrayed by the increasingly bright blue color
as one moves towards the center. Some people tell us that this logo
reminds them of a carbon nanotube or strand of DNA standing on end,
two fundamental building blocks being studied by researchers around
the world for next generation disruptive innovations.
Value-Added Investment Process
California owes much of its early development to
the Spanish. In Spanish, “Alameda” means ‘grove
of trees’ or ‘tree-lined boulevard’. Our charter
is to nurture our portfolio of investments like a grove of trees
-- to foster their growth from seedlings into majestic entities
through proactive support at every stage of the their growth. The
overall triangular shape of the logo, including the words “Alameda
Capital”, is designed to look like a tree, with Alameda providing
nutrient support. The structured patterns of the concentric rings
symbolize a disciplined due diligence and investment management
process.
Acceleration of Portfolio Companies via
Strategic Alliances with our LPs
Alameda’s investors include global leaders
in a variety of industries who wish to act on, not react to, the
disruptive potential of convergent technologies. While these limited
partners have sizable R&D staff of their own, they realize that
no single company can do it all. They look to an affiliation with
Alameda Capital and select portfolio companies as a way of filling
“white spaces”: areas of technology advancement that
they cannot focus on internally, but which will certainly impact
markets of importance to them. The inner two blue rings of the logo
symbolize how strategic alliances with our portfolio companies can
help fill the white space voids of our limited partners, who are
represented by the outer ring. More importantly for our portfolio
companies, these limited partners are prepared to help accelerate
their development and revenue ramp via win-win manufacturing, sales
& distribution and co-development alliances, technology licensing
and/or co-investment when it makes mutual sense.
