Prior to co-founding Alameda, Alex was the
founder of several companies including First Global Venture
Capital AG and the Admiralty Investment Group. He acts as
Chairman and Investment Manager for First Global, and has
made investments in the US, Europe, and Australasia. As Managing
Director of Admiralty Investment Group, he has led private
equity, privatization and M&A activities around the world,
often in partnership with such companies as Merrill Lynch,
Wasserstein Perella and HSBC.
Prior to Admiralty, Alex managed over $1.2
billion in corporate and client funds for the New Zealand
Insurance Company. He was Vice President with Bank of America's
Investment Banking Group, and had postings in San Francisco,
Tokyo and London. He began his career as an attorney with
the law firm of Graham and James and with the U.S. Commerce
Department.
Alex has taught law and business at UC Berkeley,
University of the Pacific and Auckland University. He holds
a J.D., M.B.A. and a B.A. from UC Berkeley and was a Ph.D.
candidate in industrial psychology at the University of Minnesota.
